Yesterday the plan was get off work and go to the Y.  I drove to the Y but realized I still needed to buy books, get gas, grab dinner and I felt very overwhelmed.  So I wasted about 30 minutes driving and ended up going to Subway for dinner, going to the gas station, then heading over to MC to buy books.

Class was really great, I’m gonna like Deaf Culture.  It’s taught by a husband and wife.  The wife is hearing, husband is deaf.  We can either voice or sign, obviously signing is encouraged.  However, it’s gonna go the full 3 hours until after 9 😦 On the very first night -syllabus night we stayed until 8:45.  It went fast.

I told myself I was gonna do 30 day Shred tonight.  But I was lazy and just went to bed.

I did wake up this morning and did the DVD!  Yay!  So now I don’t feel as guilty if I don’t go to the gym tonight, since it’s Friday and Scott and I are either going to Happy Hour or going Bowling.

Happy Weekend.

“These are a few of my favorite things …”

January 28, 2010

I love coming home from an 8.5 hour work day, 1 hour gym trip, night of class to a full sink of dishes and a dishwasher full of clean dishes 🙂

Ok, enough of that.  Went to work and tried out the ASHA gym since tonight was my first night of class.  Wasn’t too bad, but I feel like I’m intruding on the 2 women who are there who seem to have a workout routine.  So I think I’ll stick to the Y instead and use ASHA as a last resort.  In other news I guess Wednesdays won’t be that big of a deal, since a lady from work has adjusted her schedule and I volunteered for the spring semester to work 9-5 instead of 8-4, since I have class at 6.  This way I can be at the Y around 6:30/7, get in my workout, shower and get to work.  I think this will be good.  Then Thursdays will be my walking class at 4, so I’ll have to see what time that is done and decide if I need to make a gym visit in the am.  I haven’t looked at my half marathon plan REVISSSSED (that was supposed to be like re-re-REMIX) to see what the workouts will look like on Thursday.  Maybe that’ll be my biking day? IDK my BFF Jill.

ASHA gym, I ran 1 mile because I felt the pressure of the work-out ladies.  Walked 0.25 miles, Ran 0.5 miles, Walked 0.25 miles and then Ran 0.25 miles.  Hopped on the bike for 15 minutes.  Went 2.0 miles and I can’t remember how many calories burned.  The treadmill was so high tech I couldn’t figure out how to view the calories.  I’m guess I did at least 350 total calories.

I heated up my Healthy Choice soup laced with peas (YUM) and headed to school.  Class was good.  The teacher is Deaf and will not be voicing!! YAY! We’ll pick up the language so much faster.

Tomorrow will look much of the same.  Work. Y. Class. Sleep.

Speaking of sleep, I like this whole being in bed by 9:30ish and getting up at 5:30/6 … getting 8 hours and I feel rested.  We’ll see how long I can stand to lather, rinse and repeat that schedule.

Off to clean.  I say this a lot.  I lie a lot.  We’ll see what hits me 🙂

So I finally have my car back – thanks Mom and Dad!

I got off work at 4, went to pick up my keys and pay and headed back to ASHA to meet Mom and Dad.  Went back and picked up my car and headed back to Silver Spring.  I had planned to use the ASHA gym as I waited but there is 1 treadmill and 1 elliptical and they were both in use.  So I went upstairs and clocked another half hour.

I did talk myself into going to the Y on the way home – thanks Scott!

Got to the Y and all the treadmills were full, bummer.  Got on the bike and did half hour.  Total = 9.2 miles, 230 calories.  I did a 5 minute cool-down and my grand total was 10.5 miles, 258 calories.  Not bad, but biking is easy and made me feel like I didn’t do anything, plus you don’t burn as many calories.
Watching the Biggest Loser now, gonna try to do sit-ups during the commercials, starting at the NEXT commercial 🙂  I have to plan my meals for all day tomorrow and Thursday since, yes it’s BACK TO SCHOOL TIME – gah.  I have class Wednesday from 6 – 8:40 and Thursday 6:30 – 9ish.  Since I’m enrolled in ASHA’s Biggest Loser, I found it fitting to at least sign up for one of their exercise classes.  So every Thursday I will do the walking/strength training class starting at 4 and done around 5/5:30 with enough time to either potentially shower at ASHA and then heat up some grub.  I think it’s a good need.

Back to a slow start

January 25, 2010

but hey, I went!

I ran 1 mile and then walked for 20 minutes.  Total of 2.68 miles and about 310 calories.  I can’t remember now, of course.

I was physically able to run more, but I blame my shorts for the wedgie and my underwear for being too big.

Lesson learned.  Spandex it is, now to find some more running tights/running shorts … any sales?  I have to spend a good chunk of time in Rockville tomorrow, maybe I’ll browse Dick’s sale racks and purchase the shoes I’ve been eye-ing and tried on.  🙂

To another Monday done and 1 day closer to more exciting things!

Blood Screen results

January 22, 2010

Ok.  So I didn’t go to the gym, but I did buy a notebook that I plan to use and keep track of my results.

Met with the nutritionist and got my test results back.

Glucose: 95, anything less than 105 is great

Total Cholesterol: 194, anything less than 200 is great

Triglycerides: 74, anything less than 149 is great (did really well!)

HDL: 50, anything over 39 is great (this is the good cholesterol)

LDL: 129, anything less than 130 is good

My worst was LDL, however 129 she said was nothing to worry about.  LDL is impacted by eating meats, cheeses and carbs.  I never thought I was tempted by these things but I will try to be more conscious.  Hell, who am I kidding – I love me some bread 😦

So I’ve mapped out what work-outs I’ve done.  I can’t make a promise what I am going to do tomorrow, but I would like to have my work-out done in the morning so my weekend can officially start.  So Jilliam Michaels in the AM?  I think so.  Maybe include the 4 mile walk.

January 21, 2010

I’m feeling like the biggest blob of blah 😦

I have worked out since Friday.  I played flag football on Sunday – granted I was sore all over.  But this cold I’ve caught has been the worst.  To top it off I’ve gained weight which makes me a little depressed for the Biggest Loser that we are doing at work.  Granted it’s only been 0.2 lbs, but still, I had weighed in at more than I thought I was.

Weight Watchers really worked for me and I am half tempted to rejoin for a couple of months since the program has changed.  Plus the accuracy of the scale never disappointed me and I felt good after every weigh in.  I think this sickness is getting to me.  I originally stopped weight watchers because I didn’t find it necessary to pay $40.00 every month to step on a scale 4 times and keep track of your weight on your own.

So here’s what I’m thinking.  I need to keep track of the foods I am eating and try to model it off of Weight Watchers.  I’m gonna buy a journal tonight, specifically for this purpose and make it pretty!  I think keeping track of what you eat and your mood is the best way to understand your eating habits.

Today I have my goals meeting with the Nutritionist from Shady Grove.  I didn’t really think too hard about what I wanted other than the obivous – lose weight, feel great and look good in a bathing suit.  Superficial, yes but a goal is a goal.

I plan to sign up for the VA half-marathon on Sept. 5th – I have a $20.00 off coupon I plan to use to save some cash.

I applied for a new job inside of ASHA, if I get the job I will buy myself new sneakers.  If not, I’ll keep with the ones I have a look into purchasing a new pair sometime in the spring.

My plan for tonight, I might not be able to run but I’m gonna go to the Y and bike for hopefully an hour and see where that gets me.  I’m gonna then go and buy my fancy new journal and start my Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred Level 1.

January 18, 2010

Of course I get sick when I’ve decided MLK day would be the start of pumping up my work-outs and taking my work’s Biggest Loser contest seriously.  There’s still hope.

This weekend has been good, being trapped with Scott isn’t too bad either. Finally getting a car of my own this afternoon when my parents come down.  We’re supposed to meet at Buffalo Wild Wings, but the thought of food right now is not appealing.  Turducken junk eating yesterday and a sore throat today – green tea seems to be my only viable option.

So we’ll see how today goes.  Scott and I both need to go to CVS, I need sudafed he needs a finger splint.

My workouts are gonna adjust to running in the am at the Y and then biking at the Y after work and the Jillian Shred videos in the evening.  I’m hoping to stick with level 1 for a month, then level 2 for a month then, you guessed it – level 3 for the last month.  At about that time the Biggest Loser with work will be ending and I should be in training mode according to the Sco plan.

That’s all for now, just wanted to check in.

January 15, 2010

My run-down.  Woke up, didn’t have to go to work – YAY!  Did 3 loads of laundry, left with Scott around 11ish to drop my car off, went to CVS and then to the Y.

Scott went swimming and went running.

I ran 1.5 miles, walked 5 minutes, ran 1 mile, walked 5 minutes, ran 0.5 miles.

Total = 3.67 miles, 472 Calories.

Off to shower and then Happy Hour 🙂

Short and Sweet

January 14, 2010

It’s my weekend!

Today I ran 2 miles, walked 5 minutes, ran 0.5 miles.  Total 2.89 miles, 369 Calories.

Day 2

January 13, 2010

Second day at the Y.  Tried to change around the manual settings on the treadmill and it would only allow for a 30 minute workout.  So 30 minutes for the time being until I really need to bump up the miles.  I think I’m gonna stick to 30 on the treadmill and then change to a different machine.

Today I ran 1.5 miles, walked 5 minutes and ran 1 mile.  Total = 2.82 miles, 362 Calories.

At lunch today we had our Biggest Loser team chat session.  I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun.  I need to get myself in competition mode but it’s really hard to do that knowing Turducken good food is on Sunday.  I think once Monday rolls around I’ll be able to make smarter food choices.  I don’t think I’m a bad eater anyway so we’ll how this all pans out.

Next goal outside of weight loss is to get Scott to agree to go to Jason’s Deli with me.  God forbid we walk into an establishment that replaced WaWa … I love him, so I respect his silly wish.  Buuuuut … I’m gonna try to get him to say YES tonight since I have to go over there and do our final table refinishing.  I’m gonna attempt to post a before and after pic …Mr. HendersonStrippedFirst coat of stainThis is why I love him.

It worked!

Enjoy!  Off to shower and my favorite part of the week 🙂
