March 31, 2010

I wasn’t planning to run today since I did yesterday. However, Megan wanted to go so I came along. Again we did 3 laps around Summit which turns out it’s more like 2.5 miles and not 2.7. Hills again, KILLER.

I signed up for the walking class both days it’s offered. Hopefully the ab part WILL inspire me!

Following the habits of the male …

March 30, 2010

So instead of sitting around bored on the computer, Megan and I decided to un-bored (not a word) ourselves and go for a run. We ran around Summit 3 times, approximately 2.7 miles. It felt great! It was about 7:45 at night, weather was decent and the company was great! Worst part Summit is a hill, regardless of which side you start you have to climb up it to get back down. We didn’t time ourselves, just did it to do it. I’m liking this running thing … hopefully I didn’t just jinx myself!

Much better!

March 28, 2010

So Scott and I got up this morning to re-run the 5k course from yesterday because I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. Granted it wasn’t the 5k experience but the course was there and time was recorded. Scott and I ran the 5k in 29:23. Which I am very proud of because it was not hard at all, and when we were finished I felt exactly like I should have … like I could have ran more! It was a great experience!!

Quite the week!

March 26, 2010

I think I enjoy stressing myself out, or one would think. Monday night was yoga/stretch night … Scott came over instead. Tuesday I was supposed to run 2.5 miles, I was trying to focus on writing a 10 page paper and then a 3 page research paper and then a 2 page reflection paper. Wednesday was also supposed to be 2.5 miles, still working on those papers and class. I get to class, talk with one of my friends and what do you know … that 10 page paper I’ve been freaking out about, comtemplated not going to work so I could finish, wasn’t due Thursday of this week. It’s due April 15. Talk about a failed attempt to procrastinate! So the relief that came with that information was more than I could handle. I wanted to go home and run (9 pm once I get outta class), but I was so tired from my week of worrying that I went to bed. I can’t remember the last time my face broke out and it did this week. Not to mention I no longer have finger nails … gah!! Thursday morning I woke up and decided I’d do the 2.5, so I did. Was really good, felt like I could have gone longer but if I did, I would have been late to work. Oh wait, I was late to work because I spilled an entire bowl of cereal on myself in the car. I know, I know … woman driver attempting to eat cereal and drive. Really, how necessary are 10 speed bumps in an apartment parking lot?

Thursday my class was cancelled so I went to my walking class. We did a killer ab workout afterwards. Think I’m gonna try to incorporate those workouts in the mornings, really quick, really easy, really painful!! I’ve decided I will sign up for the next 8 week session, but this time I’m doing it Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then hopefully with the running, walking and strength training I’ll see some differences before the beach. Ah, the BEACH! I CANNOT WAIT!!

Friday’s here. That means, work til 4. I want to either 6 mile bike or run 2.5 miles when I get home. Then Saturday is the 5k race with Deena in CP, followed by Salar’s 25th birthday party. Sunday, cherry blossoms – if the weather is nice!

10 page paper, not so much

March 22, 2010

But the effort was half there. I started and did most of my research, so that was great. However, the actual writing part did not happen. Before I knew it UMD was playing and pulling on my heart strings. Saddest game ever. After taking in the loss, Scott said he was ready to run. So run we did. In total we went about 2.5 miles. It’s nice to run with him and be over my Scott phobia.

Tonight will be 10 page paper and stretching/yoga.

March 21, 2010

Thursday I left work early because I didn’t feel well. I went and picked up so more medicine. I was able to get cleared up and ran my 2 miles I had replaced.

Friday I had off work for a wedding, so Scott and I went running together. I was very nervous at first but it ended well. We had a 3 miles run planned. he counts his warm-ups in his runs so we ended up running about 2.75 miles and walking 0.25. The weather was absolutely beautiful!

Saturday we spent most of the day outside. We ended up not running in the 5k with Meg and Ben because someone got a little too drunk at the Wedding and during the UMD game (aka Meg during the Wedding, Scott during the UMD game). So Meg and Ben left during the game to go home. Scott and I woke up late Saturday morning with intentions to run again together. Instead I cooked breakfast for him and Dad while they schemed about a “First Day of Spring” cookout. After persuading Mom it was a done deal.

Scott and I then went to visit Meg and Ben’s place, which is really big and pretty. We then went to downtown Frederick to eat pizza outside and then get our free Ritas. So, Saturday was my rest day.

Sunday the plan is to write my 10-page paper while Scott plays PS3, then UMD game, then going on a 3 mile run together.

Beautiful weather is great 🙂

Sick …

March 18, 2010

But determined not to let it bring me down!

I was able to run my 2 miles yesterday. But running wasn’t happening today. Instead I substituted the run with the 6 mile bike ride for Friday. I left work early to rest and that just didn’t happen. Apparently today was “Fire Alarm” test day! Woohoo!

I’ve gotten a little homework done, gonna go to bed at 9. Wake up and see how I feel.

Thanks to Scott for coming over last night at 10:30 as a surprise. He came equipped with water, cough drops and Zicam. I didn’t have a sore throat when I woke up, so that’s the good news! Gotta get rid of this runny nose!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

It’s a sore throat, but it’s not stopping me!

March 16, 2010

So our “Meet the Trainer” appointment turned into a workout session, only I hadn’t anticipated that so I was working out in corduroys and boots. We did a lot of stretching exercises for almost 45 minutes, so conveniently I was able to fit my work out in since it was yoga or stretching.

Went to the Rockville Library where I was able to check out a book, admidst the computer reading “EXCESSIVE FINES, SEE ATTENDANT”. Payment hadn’t processed yet, but it’s all good. Went to the ASL practice club, which again was a little bit of a let down. I was stuck in a group with an 11 year old and an older woman who was Deaf but had never learned sign and could barely read the “ABCs”. I think God tests me. He does well at it. On a more positive note, I found out my Deaf ASL II teacher wants me to interpret at a party she is going to. It’s a Dove Chocolates party, didn’t know they exist. It’s with hearing people and she wants me and a fellow classmates to assist her. We’ll see. Depends on where the party is.

My intention was to wake up this morning at 5:30 and run, I woke up but my throat was killing me so I said I would run when I got home. Just finished, not too terrible for not doing well. 2 miles in 20:40, then 10 minutes of walking. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll feel better to do my run and get back under 20 minutes.

This weekend is my second cousin’s wedding in Woodsboro. The Dixon clan will be loading up for a Friday wedding at 6:30 followed by watching the UMD game at 9:40. Meg and I are gonna try to run a 5k in Middletown Saturday morning, in honor of the family whose house burnt down in a fire and they were all killed. Hopefully I’ll feel 100% by then, because I would like to do an outside run and I gotta run 3 miles anyway on Saturday!

Next weekend is the 5k race in College Park that I will be running with Deena. It’s $10.00 to enter and it’ll meet Deena’s goal of wanting to run a 5k by the end of ASHA’s Biggest Loser program.

That’s all. Off to write some papers and do research. Woohoo for my Spring Break!

Weekend Whoopsies!

March 15, 2010

Friday I did my 6 mile bike ride which was nice and fast.

Saturday, Scott and I went to the Aquarium for Deaf Awareness Day and then I had to run around like a chicken with it’s head cut off in preparation for Ash’s 25th Birthday celebration. So no 3 mile run, but Scott said it was alright to move that to Sunday.

Sunday, the plan was to run. However I was sick, throwing up and headache all day until 5 pm. Didn’t make up my run. Scott tells me no worries, So I believe him.

Tonight I will be going to our “Meet the Trainer” appointment through ASHA’s Biggest Loser program. Then I gotta go to the Rockville Library for a Deaf Culture Club activity.

Tonight will be a yoga tape and stretching. Tuesday I’ll be back to waking up in the morning to do my 2 mile run.

I feel a sore throat coming. Trying to stop it with some OJ.

I agree …

March 11, 2010

I can’t believe it’s Thursday either and I’m finished running! I’m so proud of myself, I didn’t quit! When it felt tough I repeated the mantra, “For your Health” over and over again! It worked! 3 miles done in 32:30. Again, time will improve! 395 calories!

Now we’ll see how sore my body is for walking and strength training tonight … gah!

Biking tomorrow … schwooooooo!!!
